La Montanara

Contrada Santanello,
Vestea - Montebello, Pescara, Abruzzo (Italy)

Nestled between two small villages within The Gran Sasso National Park of Pescara, La Montanara (Italian for ‘The Mountain Girl’) offers modern and comfortable 3 bedroom accommodation ideally situated for a visit to the Abruzzo region of Italy.

Location:

The house is high enough in the mountain area to provide fascinating views without being inaccessible or remote. It stands on a no through road just outside the village of Vestea, and within a few minutes drive of Montebello where there are more shops and bars. There are four restaurants within one kilometre of the house, including one just a few hundred yards away. The main local town of Penne is 20 minutes drive away, and Pescara itself, the principal regional town can be accessed within 40 minutes. Ski resorts are nearby, and the extensive beach resort is less than 30 kilometres distance from the house.

Accommodation:

There are two double bedrooms, a smaller bedroom which is big enough for two single beds, a bathroom with shower and an open-plan living room with kitchen. Balconies run the full width of the house at the front, providing a place to sit and admire the panoramic views of the countryside including the Maiella mountain range, right to the sea. There is a garden with a patio area at the rear, and secure parking. Full central heating and double glazing ensure warmth in case of a cold snap, and for added cosiness, you can burn logs in the imposing fireplace. The fully fitted kitchen includes oven, hob, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

Getting there:

Ryanair operate direct and very low-cost flights from Stansted airport to Pescara, which is a typical small-scale regional airport. You can hire a car with Avis or Hertz, and it is a half-hour drive from the airport to La Montanara. Roads are free from traffic and driving in the Abruzzo region is a real pleasure. Alternatively you can fly to Ancona and drive down the Adriatic coast, or fly to Rome from where it is a two hour drive on the Rome-Pescara autostrada.
